About Kate
In an unregulated field, qualifications count. Kate Naito, CDBC, CPDT-KA, FFCP, ADP-CI, MS, is a sought-after dog behavior consultant and trainer in the Northeast. She owns High Ten Dog Training, LLC in the Stamford, CT, area, and also trains with Doggie Academy in Brooklyn, NY.
Kate is certified by the prestigious IAABC and CCPDT, as well as a certified Fear Free Professional and All Dogs Parkour instructor. Kate is the award-winning author of two dog training books, is frequently featured on television and in print, and has made numerous free training videos to help her clients.
She draws upon her extensive experience as a college instructor and force-free dog trainer to create lessons that get to the heart of what her clients need. Kate uses science-based training methods to humanely teach dogs how to overcome problematic behaviors and have polite manners in all situations. She focuses on:
Manners: greeting people politely, leash walking, coming when called, Canine Good Citizen, and all levels of commands (sit, stay, leave it), etc.
Behavior modification: reactivity to other dogs, reactivity on leash, "stranger danger" fears, separation issues, confidence building, puppy mill/hoarding trauma, etc.
Puppies: housetraining, biting/chewing, manners
Recreational sports: parkour, scent games, rally obedience, agility
Kate has a particular interest in helping dogs from traumatic backgrounds and those with special needs. She is a rescue advocate who has adopted and rehabilitated many senior and special-needs pets, including her current dogs, Margaret and Beans.
Kate regularly volunteers with Blind Dog Rescue Alliance and has provided assistance to local shelters and rescue groups. She is committed to helping owners communicate clearly with their dogs, regardless of their ages or past experiences, to build lifelong bonds through positive training.
